Placement of vehicle glass is not just about putting a new piece of glass into your car; it can be about your safety and the safety of other motorists. For Hamilton-based mechanics, which means rough conditions and unforgiving weather can take a bit of a toll on vehicles, a comprehensive checklist is crucial to ensure every installation is completed to the highest standard. The specialists at Car Glass Hamilton take pride in trouble-free installations from front windshields to side and rear windows. Safe Installation Protects Drivers, Enhances Vehicle Performance and Prevents Costly Call Backs.

Step 1: Survey the Damage and Get Your Vehicle Ready

Before you move forward with installation, you want to see the damage of the glass. You might want to take the car to a mechanic and see if the glass need replaced or can be fixed. If a fix does not work then the all of the broken parts need to be removed. The car should be parked on a level ground in a dry and clean place. Being properly prepared means things like disconnecting the battery if working near electrical parts, and masking off around the area so you don’t wreck the paint and interior.

Step 2: Peel Off the Old Adhesive and Clean the Frame

Once the broken glass has been taken out, the area of the pinch weld (the part of the car which the glass adheres to) will be prepared. All old glue and muck must be completely removed with specific tools. This is extremely important. Any remaining debris can potentially get in the way of the new adhesive bond and undermine the installation. Hamilton’s car glass experts stress that the key to getting a secure seal is a clean, dry and ideally rust-free surface.

Step 3: Installing New Urethane Adhesive Correctly

Car glass adhesive There’s also adhesive required for mounting car glass windows. It can be used by mechanics with a V-notch applicator for uniform distribution throughout the circumference. The size and shape of the bead, as well as the bead of caulk or sealant, need to be compatible with the manufacturer’s requirements to create a waterproof, airtight seal. With this being the case, the proper adhesive products are a must for those mechanics on the market in the Car Glass Hamilton industry, especially with the kind of fluctuations in temperature and conditions prevalent in Hamilton.

Step 4: Orient and Install the New Glass

It must be aligned perfectly if one doesn’t want and defeats its purpose. Mechanics should carefully lay the glass back down in its nest using suction cups and alignment tools, being sure not to get any smears on the adhesive. It has to be centered right and flush to the body for a clean look. Applying a lot of pressure around the edges will make 100% snug contact between the glass and the sticker. After installed, the glass needs to be kept away from disturbance according to the curing time varied from different adhesive type and temperature.

5: Final Inspection and Cleaning

Upon installation, technicians must check the glass in and out to ensure it is positioned to a tight seal. Re-attach any part such as sensors, cameras or defrost lines and test to be sure they work. Finally, clean the new glass and the area around it to remove any smudges or fingerprints from the adhesive. Both of these are viewed and seen through by our satisfied Hamilton customers and both lead to clean-cut car glass every time we perform our work.
