Hydraulic scissor lift table is used in many places like warehouse, factory, workshop and industrial areas. They are helpful for lifting heavy loads and reduce manual work for workers. But these machines are not perfect always. After some time of usage, different problems can start coming which disturb daily work.

Some problems looks small but if ignored, it can become very big issue later. Knowing common problems early helps to save repair cost and machine downtime.

1. Lift Table Not Lifting or Lifting Very Slow

One of most common problem seen is when hydraulic scissor lift table does not lift properly or lift very slow than normal speed. This mostly happens during busy working hours.

Possible reason can be:

  • Hydraulic oil level is low

  • Air is inside hydraulic system

  • Pump or valve is not working fine

How to fix it:
First you should check oil level. Many people forget to check oil for long time. If oil is low, refill correct hydraulic oil. Air trapped inside system should be removed by bleeding process. If pump become weak, repair or replace it. Using wrong oil also make lifting poor.

2. Hydraulic Oil Leaking Problem

Oil leakage is very common issue in hydraulic scissor lift tables and many times it is ignored also. Even small leakage can reduce performance and create unsafe working area.

Main causes are:

  • Seal become old or damaged

  • Hydraulic fittings loose

  • Hose cracked or worn

How to fix it:
Inspect lift table properly and find oil leaking point. Tighten fittings if they are loose. Replace damaged seals or hose immediately. Some users try to delay replacement and leak become bigger. Low quality parts also create repeat leak issue again and again.

3. Lift Table Goes Up But Comes Down Slowly

Sometimes lift table raises load easily but after that it slowly comes down without pressing any button. This is dangerous situation and should not be ignored.

Possible reasons:

  • Check valve is faulty

  • Internal seal damaged

  • Hydraulic cylinder leaking

How to fix it:
This problem mostly require professional repair. Check valve or seals need to be changed. Using lift table in this condition is unsafe for workers. Many operators think its small pressure loss but actually it is serious issue.

4. Jerky Movement or Uneven Lifting

If lift table moves jerky or uneven while lifting, it can damage material and also create accident risk.

Reasons can be:

  • Air trapped inside hydraulic line

  • Load not placed in center

  • Hydraulic oil dirty or old

How to fix it:
Always place load evenly on table surface. Remove air from hydraulic system by bleeding. Replace old or dirty oil. Many people skip oil change for long time and then face this problem.

5. Strange Noise While Operating

If you hear grinding, whining or knocking sound from hydraulic scissor lift table, it means something is wrong.

Common causes include:

  • Low hydraulic oil

  • Pump parts worn

  • Loose bolts or joints

How to fix it:
Check oil level first and refill if needed. Inspect all bolts, pins and scissor arms. If noise not stopping, pump may need service. Ignoring noise can cause sudden machine failure.

6. Control Button Not Working Properly

Sometimes lift table does not respond when button is pressed. This problem is mostly electrical.

Possible reasons are:

  • Wiring loose or damaged

  • Switch not working

  • Power supply issue

How to fix it:
Check power connection and wiring. Replace damaged wire or control switch if required. Electrical work should be done carefully to avoid shock or short circuit.

7. Excessive Wear on Scissor Arms

Scissor arms can wear faster if lift table used heavily. Cracks, bending or gap can be seen on arms.

Why it happens:

  • Overloading lift table

  • No lubrication

  • Poor maintenance habit

How to fix it:
Never exceed load capacity limit. Lubricate all moving joints regularly. If scissor arms are damaged, stop using lift table immediately. Using damaged arms is very risky and unsafe.

Final Thoughts

Hydraulic scissor lift tables are strong machines but they need proper care and maintenance. Most problems start small and get worse if not fixed on time. Regular inspection, oil change and correct usage can prevent many problems.

If lift table feels different or sound strange, it means something is wrong. Fixing issues early saves money and keeps workers safe. Little maintenance always helps more than big repair later.
